Planning your Cotswold day tour from London

Rosehill Travel caters for international guests from all over the world, many of whom fly into London to experience the bustling city life of our capital and see the world-famous sites of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Benjamin Franklin’s House and the London Eye, to name but a few.

A popular day excursion to take a break from the hubbub, is to take the train into the picturesque villages of the Cotswolds, that offer compete contrast to London by way of their calm tranquillity and friendly locals.

To the Cotswolds from London by train

If you’re happy to travel by rail and organise your London to Cotswolds transfer yourself we recommend travelling from London, Paddington and using trainline.com for buying tickets.

There are a choice of beautiful Cotswolds stations to alight at:

  • London Paddington to Kingham, or Moreton in Marsh stations for a North Cotswolds tour – Less than 2 hours journey time
  • London Paddington to Kemble or Chippenham, for South Cotswolds tour – around an hour’s journey
  • Trains run approximately hourly, and the direct services, pass through Oxford City if you’d like to stop off to see the famous universities.

To the Cotswolds from London by road

If you prefer to travel by road, or in the private luxury of a chauffeur driven vehicle, Rosehill Travel can of course arrange for you to be warmly greeted by one of our London-based drivers. Please bear in mind however, that this is not included in the day tour price and will therefore be at additional cost.

The drive between central London and the Cotswolds is around two, to two and half hours, depending on where you are visiting first. For example, Blenheim Palace is on the edge of the Cotswolds and is a must-see attraction just an hour and a half from Paddington by car.

Don’t forget though, if you are visiting the Cotswolds on a five-star private holiday from London you’ll be transported by chauffeur to the local hotel as part of your package.
