One of our favourite hotels, Ellenborough Park was recently named England’s Leading Country House hotel at the prestigious World Travel Awards. Up against the likes of Lucknam Park and Manoir aux Quat’Saisons this is a huge pat on the back for the staff and management at the hotel, and reaffirms the fact the Cotswolds offers the best of British hospitality.
If you haven’t yet had the pleasure, Ellenborough Park is a country house hotel set on the original Cheltenham Racecourse estate, which provides guests with a choice of two restaurants, an Indian-themed spa, 15m heated outdoor swimming pool and an extensive range of leisure activities.

We spend a lot of time behind the wheel of the cars, so its vital we know what we’re doing on the road and especially with our customers travelling with us.
At the start of the year I became a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). I was assigned a mentor, and we met up for a two hour drive each week. He observed my driving and taught me how to improve my driving skills. Taking the key elements of advanced driving skills from Roadcraft, (the book behind all police driver training) I learnt about the system of car contol, (Information, Position, Speed, Gear, Acceleration), ‘limit points of observation’, making good progress while driving safely. I attended a theory day and studied the theory behind being a safe and professional driver. After about eight sessions I was ready for the test. Pretty much like doing the driving test all over again, my examiner was a Gloucestershire policeman, pretty nerve wracking because I really wanted to do well, but he put me at ease and I relaxed in to the test. After an hour and a half we finished and I was told I had passed, but not just a pass, I was given a ‘First’, which is the highest award for the Advanced Driving Test. Extremely happy to say the least with the result and an extremely worth while course which I definitely recommend taking to anyone who wants to improve their driving skills.
Visit Britain, our national Tourism organisation have launched a new campaign to promote the countryside. The “Countryside is GREAT” will run for three years promoting “Britain’s countryside as a place to enjoy modern culture, top quality food and world-class accommodation in a beautiful landscape”. They’ve launched a new website with loads of information including this video highlighting the Cotswolds.
You may have noticed a few differences on the website this week, here’s whats new:
1. 10% discount on Winter tours. Yes folks, thats £34.00 off the price of a “Famous North Cotswolds tour”. Applies to any one day or two day tours we do from now until the end of March.
2. New menu for Cotswold tours and holidays. The list was getting too long so we’ve divided anything Cotswold related in to:
a. 1 day tours
b. 2 day tours
c. Short breaks & holidays
3. New ‘Book Now, Tour & accommodation’ button. One and Two day tours can now be booked with or without hotel accommodation.
4. Links to accommodation information page. We know how important where you stay on holiday is. Now, each tour page has links to the relevant hotel information on the accommodation page. Click the images for a slideshow.
Hope you like the changes. Let us know the good or bad in the comments section or send us an email.
