Highly regarded but not so well known is Bourton House Garden. I’ve been a few times but it’s not often chosen by our visitors as they usually head straight for Kiftsgate Court or Hidcote Manor. My parents visited over the Summer and dad sent me an email reminder to go again. Here’s what he had to say:
We haven’t been for about 10 years until today. I remember being disappointed before but it’s now transformed into a memorable garden; lots of plants I’ve never seen before and lovely combinations of flowers and foliage plus views beyond into a Cotswold landscape, well worth taking your customers to (if they want something on a smaller scale than Hidcote) if you don’t already.
Bourton House garden is just right for an hour or more to enjoy without rushing around. If you’re touring the Cotswolds in one day, Hidcote is a bit of a waste of time. The garden is vast and needs 2 hours to enjoy properly. Your better off in a smaller garden like Bourton House where you can see everything, enjoy the views, plants and stop to take it all in.
